GGU Presents has a great topical discussion coming up next week that could reframe how you think of lawyering. Adjunct Law Professor Monica Valencia will host a panel discussion on the importance of “Rebellious Lawyering” in advocating for immigrant clients during a global pandemic. What is “rebellious lawyering?” The panel will describe it best, but look at it as a progressive, client-centered approach that requires lawyers to be knowledgeable about the cultures and experiences of the groups they work with. It advocates for a holistic approach to both legal and non-legal problem-solving in disadvantaged communities

The Dreamer Fund and the USF Migration Studies program are teaming up with the Roxie Theater to bring the film screening of, "Undocumented," to our community. Half of the proceeds of this film screenings will benefit a special scholarship on behalf of the Dreamer Fund to the graduate students of the USF Migration Studies program. A conversation with the filmmaker, Patricia Shih, will follow and will be moderated by Prof. Bill Ong Hing, of the University of San Francisco. Roxie Theater 3117 16th St., San Francisco - Tuesday, July 30 at 6:30 pm. PRICE: Admission is $9 students & seniors, $15 general, $20 supporter and $30 as benefactor.

The Refugee Caravan—now over 600 strong, has traveled halfway across Mexico, and in order to reach their destination safely, they will need buses, food and basic supplies. This is our first benefit, which will be held at El Rio in the San Francisco, Mission District. Doors open at 8pm and shows begin at 9pm. There is a $10 cover. All proceeds will be donated to the Dreamer Fund and the evening will include: Silent Art Auction, Live Music with Betsy & Beau and Killer Whale, Comedy by Christine Mettel, Soul Records and Latin Oldies with tylawave, and of course, Dreamers who will share their stories.
